[00:25.00] The five unmistakable marks
[00:28.00]By which you may know, wheresoever you go,
[00:31.00] The warranted genuine Snarks.
[00:34.00]Let us take them in order. The first is the taste,
[00:38.00] Which is meagre and hollow, but crisp:
[00:41.00]Like a coat that is a little too tight in the waist,
[00:43.00] With a flavour of Will-o-the-wisp.
[00:44.00]
[00:46.00]We have sailed many weeks, we have sailed many days,
[00:52.00] (Seven days to the week I allow),
[00:58.00]But a true Snark on whom we might lovingly gaze,
[01:04.00] We have never beheld till now!
[01:05.00]
[01:34.00]Its habit of getting up late you抣l agree
[01:38.00] That it carries too far, when I say
[01:41.00]That it frequently breakfasts at five-o抍lock tea,
[01:43.00] And dines on the following day.
[01:49.00]The third is its slowness in taking a jest.
[01:50.00] Should you happen to venture on one,
[01:53.00]It will sigh like a thing that is deeply distressed:
[01:55.00] And it always looks grave at a pun.

[02:22.00]We have sailed many weeks, we have sailed many days,
[02:28.00] (Seven days to the week I allow),
[02:34.00]But a true Snark on whom we might lovingly gaze,
[02:38.00] We have never beheld till now!

[02:46.00]The fourth is its fondness for bathing-machines,
[02:49.00] Which is constantly carries about,
[02:52.00]And believes that they add to the beauty of scenes
[02:55.00] A sentiment open to doubt.
[03:01.00]The fifth is ambition. It next will be right
[03:02.00] To describe each particular batch:
[03:05.00]Distinguishing those that have feathers, and bite,
[03:12.00] And those that have whiskers, and scratch.
[03:18.00]For, although common Snarks do no manner of harm,
[03:20.00] Yet, I feel it my duty to say,
[03:23.00]Some are Boojums--The Bellman broke off in alarm,
[03:25.00] For the Baker had fainted away.
