This Friendship Of Ours - This Perfect Day

This Friendship Of Ours - This Perfect Day
With a torch in one hand
And good intentions in the other
He went searching for
Who he thought could be his mother
Her father ignores him
Her mother despises him
But why should he be bothered by them
If he'd ask you to give it another try
Would you just smile
And then kiss him good-bye
Or would you act like you didn't care
This friendship of ours
Was never meant to last
We wore it out like cheap underwear
And it belongs to the past
Her father ignores me
Her mother despises me
But why should I be bothered by them
If I'd ask you to give it another try
Would you just smile
And then kiss me good-bye
Or would you act like you didn't care
You told me things when you were drunk
I wish you would repeat
Words full of love and trust
I wish you would repeat
Her father ignores me
Her mother despises me
But why should I be bothered by them
If I'd ask you to give it another try
Would you just smile
And then kiss me good-bye
Or would you act like you didn't care
If I'd ask you to give it another try
Would you just smile
And then kiss me good-bye
Or would you act like you didn't care
