here we lay
it's strange to think there's nothing left to say
but that's all right with me
what're words anyway
as light fades
my mind escapes to wonder when your bed became the ocean
that we're both bound to drown in
and that's where we begin
i can't keep myself from looking back
to think of all the other fools who broke their backs
sailing upon ships that were designed to crack
sailing over waters where the storms don't ever pass
but still we sail
avoiding all the thoughts that we might fail
they are of no consequence
when you lay your head across my chest
oh how quickly i forget
what a mess we have become
and you weren't meant to be with me
we were never meant to be
still i never had the strength
to turn myself around
and so for now
let's go down
here we'll stay
there's nothing left to play
unless we turn around and go from where we came
it's too late
pretending this was no matter of fate
and even if we tried
i fear it'd stay the same
some things never change
