It's a fine day
And I'm ambling down the Kingsland Road
Out to buy a paper and a microphone
Around the way from my abode
I spy a dude with a sandwich board
He's talking about The End of The World
It's coming from abroad apparently
Which it might or mightn't be
Figure me we should be looking closer to home
I pass on anyway and keep my mouth shut
Because there's not much point
I spot a kid up on the corner
And he's smoking a joint
And from my own experience I know the coppers sound our way aint lenient
But who am I to tell him how to live his life
It's not like i ever listened as a younger
Plus he's got a face like thunder
I leave it
And weave my way through ladies old and young and fat and falling
Sun beams down it's a pretty lush morning
But something's going down where they're waiting for their buses
One lone bag is causing something of a ruckus
Man sitting at the but stop
Staring at his wristwatch
Waiting for the bomb drop tick tock
I was thinking of all the right things to say
And the girls in the long socks
Listening to their hi-top hip-hop

Curious approach a lady and I ask her
Whargwarn
She says there's a suspicious package and it might just be a bomb
I think I've had it up to here with all these "suspicious packages"
Makes as much sense as like "pissed off packages"
Or packages that's "jealous" anyway she thinks it terrorists
Like the whole town's teeming with "terrorists"
Reds Under The Beds turned to terrorists rah though
I'd like to point that out but she might think that I was mad
So I don't say nothing about the fact that they're exaggerating
How easy it is to control a terrified population
How I think they're overstating every damn thing
Anyway the crowd's increasing they're all pointing at this thing
Just then a teenage girl wades through
Grabs the bag waves to her crew:
"I got it "
Takes the phone out of the pocket
Presses play then bops away
The people stare then someone says:
"What's that terrible tinny racket Stop it "
